The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well. When ordinary people decide to do extraordinary things, they transform their lives and the lives of those around them.
It is in our lives and not our words that our religion must be read.
There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance - that principle is contempt prior to investigation.
